JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for instructing students in an elementary school from grades K-5. Creates lesson plans, creates a positive classroom leadership learning culture, instructs students in literacy, math, science, and social studies according to the Colorado State Standards and district curriculum. Creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program inclusive of students, parents, and colleagues.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Stay updated and utililize mandates and standards of the Colorado State Standards and district curriculum.
- Prepare, deliver, and utilize all district approved assessments.
- Prepare instructional resources for use in the classroom.
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
- Create positive educational climate for students according to our school environment plan.
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
- Maintain lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year according to assessment results.
- Maintain grade books, attendance, and all student records.
- Grade papers and provide instructional feedback to students and parents.
- Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.
- Participate in all elementary level and school-wide professional development.
- Utilize various curriculum resources.
- Integrate goals, objectives, and feedback into lesson plans.
- Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
- Develop professional relationships with other community agencies and programs.
- Utilize school and public library resources.
- Work with colleagues to ensure school initiatives are being met.
- Deliver instruction in the whole group, small group, and individual setting.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Prepare and distribute required reports.
- Observe and evaluate student's performance.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by using school-wide approved procedures.
- Implement differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
