Job Summary
Gaining knowledge and experience required for promotion to director of operations involves performing the following duties:
- Providing excellent guest service.
- Familiarizing oneself with all lodges and activities in Custer State Park Resorts.
- Developing knowledge in all areas of resort operation.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, front desk, and all lodges' POS systems.
- Having a working knowledge of restaurant/food service operations.
- Aiding operations in all departments as directed by the director of operations, including dining room, kitchen, front desk, housekeeping, lounge, meeting rooms, and banquet facilities.
- Learning line-and-staff functions, operations management viewpoints, and company policies and practices that affect each phase of the resort business.
- Setting performance goals and objectives with the director of operations.
- Assuming additional responsibility on a lodge-by-lodge basis as directed by the director of operations.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carrying out supervisory responsibilities under the direction of the director of operations, generally including training associates, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems, but may include other duties as directed by the director of operations.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Preferred
- An associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reasoning Ability
- The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- The ability to interpret a variety of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, listening, and hearing abilities and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other associates.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and sometimes 75 pounds.
