Job Summary
The QC Technician / Metrologist is responsible for ensuring the quality of plastic injection molded parts by performing detailed inspections, measurements, and tests. This role involves utilizing precision measuring instruments, implementing quality control procedures, and working closely with the production team to ensure that molded products meet the required specifications, tolerances, and customer expectations in all areas of production; verifying compliance with process and quality work instructions; and other verification and testing as directed by the Quality Manager.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of metrology and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Job Duties
- Responsible for frequent in process inspection which includes all production processes in Injection Molding/Assembly and the Extrusion Departments.
- Responsible for verifying “first piece inspections” in all departments.
- Responsible for monitoring and inspecting sorted/salvage, and repair of nonconforming product.
- Responsible for final inspection in the Injection and Assembly Departments.
- Must document the results of inspection and testing of all above elements in accordance with CEW quality system procedures.
- Keep shift Team Leader and Lead Process Technicians informed of non-conformances and out-of-control situations.
- Perform other functions required by the shift supervisor that will optimize the efficiency of the manufacturing process so long as those functions do not assume priority over the quality verification activities.
- Computer Skills.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in quality control or metrology, ideally in a plastic injection molding or similar manufacturing environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in the use of metrology equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM, etc.).
- Strong understanding of dimensional inspection, statistical analysis, and quality control standards.
- Knowledge of plastic injection molding processes and related quality standards (ISO 9001, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Must pass the Quality Assurance Manager’s re-qualification examination once each year for each inspector. The examination will consist of observations of performance and verbal questions.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position with standard working hours.
- Occasional overtime may be required based on production schedules.
- Work is conducted in a factory environment with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and occasional chemicals used in production.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.20 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
