Job Overview: We are seeking a highly organized, meticulous, and experienced Material Handler to support our laser cutting operations. The Material Handler will play a critical role in selecting, loading, tagging, and organizing materials for our advanced fiber laser-cutting machinery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of metals, exceptional organizational skills, and precise attention to detail in a dynamic, high-mix manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Precisely select and load materials of various types, thicknesses, and sizes onto laser cutting equipment.
Safely operate forklifts to transport materials and parts throughout the facility, maintaining a constant supply to production.
Thoroughly read and interpret material certifications to ensure accurate metal grades and compliance with specifications.
Accurately measure and verify materials using micrometers and calipers.
Maintain exceptional organization by clearly labeling, tagging, and returning remnant materials to inventory stock.
Carefully unload cut parts from laser cutters, ensuring careful handling to prevent scratches or damage to sensitive materials.
Systematically organize and label completed parts by job number and part identification for streamlined processing.
Competently operate computers to update databases, track material usage, and maintain accurate inventory records.
Conduct routine equipment inspections, promptly reporting any concerns to supervisors.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1-2 years of material handling experience, preferably in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Forklift certification required.
Proficiency with micrometers and calipers.
Extensive knowledge of metal types, grades, and specifications.
Experience reading and interpreting material certifications and inventory documentation.
Computer proficiency, including familiarity with inventory management systems.
Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform manual tasks as required.
Preferred Skills:
Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication or laser cutting environment.
Familiarity with ERP systems or inventory management software.
