Job Title: Plumbing Tech

Job Summary:
The Plumbing Tech is responsible for assembling, cutting, fitting, and securing copper and PVC piping systems for custom products. This role involves measuring, cutting, soldering, and gluing pipes according to specifications to ensure proper fluid and drainage flow in HVAC systems. The Plumbing Tech works closely with other departments to ensure high-quality plumbing assemblies that meet company and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Plumbing Assembly & Fabrication
- Cut, measure, and assemble copper and PVC piping to precise specifications.
- Use soldering, brazing, and press-fit techniques to secure copper pipe connections.
- Use solvent welding (gluing) methods for PVC pipe joints and fittings.
- Install valves, fittings, couplings, and brackets to complete plumbing assemblies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and schematics to ensure proper layout and installation.
Quality Control & Leak Testing
- Perform visual and pressure testing to ensure joints are properly sealed.
- Inspect and verify dimensions, tolerances, and alignment to meet company and industry standards.
- Identify and correct misalignments, defects, or leaks before final assembly.
- Work with the Quality Control team to troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow OSHA and company safety policies for handling materials and operating tools.
- Use proper PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Handle copper and PVC materials safely, avoiding contamination or improper fitting.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to prevent hazards.
Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Work closely with other departments teams to ensure seamless integration of plumbing components.
- Suggest process improvements to enhance assembly speed, accuracy, and material efficiency.
- Accurately and consistently use the company’s ERP system to document work time, inventory usage, job progress, and any other required information in a timely manner.
- Assist in training new employees on copper and PVC plumbing assembly techniques.
Performance Metrics:
- Assembly Accuracy: Ensure 100% compliance with blueprints and specifications.
- Efficiency & Timeliness: Complete 95% of assemblies on schedule while maintaining quality.
- Leak-Free Joints: Achieve 99% first-pass success rate in leak testing.
- Material Waste Reduction: Minimize scrap and rework by at least 10% through precision cutting and fitting.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain zero lost-time injuries by following all safety guidelines.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience:
- 1 years of experience in plumbing assembly, pipefitting, or HVAC component assembly.
- Experience working with copper and PVC piping systems preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in cutting, threading, soldering, brazing, and gluing copper and PVC pipes.
- Ability to use pipe cutters, reamers, torches, and solvent cement for assembly.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, measuring tools, and work order interpretation.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Safety Certification.
- Brazing Certification (preferred but not required).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail to ensure precise assembly.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting assembly issues.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and tools.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, bending, and reaching as required.
Flexibility Requirement:
Due to the dynamic nature of our production process, all employees are expected to be flexible in their work assignments. If there is a temporary shortage of work in your primary department or craft, you may be assigned to assist in other departments or perform tasks outside your usual scope of work. Refusal to accept such assignments may result in being sent home without pay for that period. This ensures continuous workflow and supports overall company productivity.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
