Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. This role involves conducting risk assessments, developing safety toolbox presentations, developing safety policies, governmental OSHA reporting, and providing training to employees on best practices in health and safety. The Safety Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe work environment and minimizing workplace hazards.
Responsibilities
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Conducts regular safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulatory regulations and policies.
- Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.
- Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies that align with industry best practices.
- Reviews accidents and incidents reported by employees, managers, and guests to the facility and prepare investigation reports of root cause analysis and recommendations.
- Perform root cause analysis for incidents and accidents to identify underlying issues and prevent recurrence.
- Provide training development for employees on safety protocols, first aid, and emergency response procedures.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incidents, and compliance issues for management review.
- Stay updated on workers compensation laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety through effective communication and training initiatives.
- Fabricate or modify equipment as necessary to enhance workplace safety.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards, workers' compensation laws and EPA standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficient in report writing with the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively.
- Ability to conduct training and presentations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proven experience in an EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) role or similar position.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with all levels of staff.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR is preferred; additional safety certifications are a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
