JOB TITLE: Brake Press & Press Operator
Reports to: Manufacturing Process Manager
II. JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY: Responsibilities include but not limited to programming and operation of brake press, bending of materials, use of manual and automatic tools, measuring critical dimensions, working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to meet production needs.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears or other metal straightening and bending machines
- Maintain the operation of the brake press to meet production requirements
- Utilize equipment in a safe manor
- Use white samples to ensure product is completed to specification
- Ensure all products adhere to the production specifications of the customer
- Read and interpret blue prints and process sheets
- Inspect all work, prior to sending it down the line
- Read a tape measure to take critical measurements
- Maintain safe work practices
- Assist in training & mentoring newer employees
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment i.e. work station, lunchroom etc.
- Participate in continuous improvements, 5S and 8 Waste initiatives, including and not limited to processes, production flow etc.
- Report any hazards to the Plant Manager or Supervisor immediately so corrective action can be taken.
- Present a professional image of Custom Steel Supply , and a personal commitment to the safety and well being of all employees.
- Support the Health & Safety Program
- Practice safe and proper use of machinery and tools
- Perform all other duties as required

III. QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in break press operation is advantageous.
· Ability to follow written/verbal instructions, basic computer skills, and proficiency in reading measuring devices/equipment and basic math
· Strong commitment to continuous improvement in uptime, product quality, and overall mill performance.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Visual acuity for reading and recording numerical data.
· Attention to detail, dependability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
· Physical capability to perform tasks including standing, walking, using hands, handling objects, reaching, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
· Proficiency in computer usage and Microsoft Office tools.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
IV. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
· Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8-10 hours per day.
· Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods to cover shifts.
· Flexibility to bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push, and pull, with the capability to reach in all directions.
· Other physical requirements as needed for the job.
V. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· High School diploma with some post-HS education or equivalent job experience required.
· College/technical degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· 2 years of experience in a manufacturing facility.

· Multiple shift schedules
. All candidates must successfully clear all pre-hire Background and Drug Screenings.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
