I. JOB TITLE: Millwright/CNC/Machinist
Reports to: Tube Mill Department Manager/Supervisor
II. JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY: Millwright/CNC/Machinist will direct installation and assembly of machinery, perform scheduled and required maintenance and repair, troubleshoot and problem-solve all manners of industrial equipment and processes, possess excellent blueprint reading skills, proficiency with variety types of tools, tool operation, assist to enforce health & safety, work as part of a team to insure efficient and effective operations, review quality concerns, drive continuous improvements to assure consistent manufacture of product, and present a professional image of Custom Steel Supply.
III. JOB CORE RESPONSIBILTIES:
Build new industrial and construction machinery ·
Repair broken or defective machine parts, using welding and brazing tools·
Align equipment by using specialized tools (e.g. micrometer, plumb bobs)·
R eview and follow highly technical and complex machinery manuals ·
Transfer machines to several sites, either to install them or repair them·
Disassemble machine parts when transporting or repairing them, and reassemble the parts·
Collect and store distinct machinery parts IV. S
PECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Alerts Mill Operator of any difficulties with machinery
· Support Tube Mill Team during breakdowns, bottlenecks, changeovers, and scheduled downtime as needed.
· Perform a variety of maintenance tasks on production equipment and facilities, including troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
· Utilize CMMS (SAP) to document work orders, maintenance activities, and equipment history.
· Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic sytems.
· Proficient at welding, machining, tooling and fabricating.
· Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime
· Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts
· Dismantling older machines relocating and reinstalling as needed.
· Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts
· Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts
· Alerts Mill Operator of any difficulties with machinery
· Work safely following Haz Com & workplace safety practices as outlined by Custom Steel Supply policy & OSHA.
· Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
· Adhere to all safety protocols, PPE requirements and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
· Complete all required operating, PM and quality reports as required.
· Report any irregularities or malfunctions to managers or maintenance.
· Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment.
· Works closely with both Mill Crane Operator, Cut-Off Operator, End Welder, and the Multi-craft Technician to monitor the entirety of the production process.
· Cross-Train to a full working understanding and knowledge of all positions as to be able to contribute as needed.
· Conduct regular inspections of machinery and facilities to identify potential issues and implement corrective measures.
· Assist in the preparation, installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
· Review and document all required operating, PM and quality reports as required.
· Support Tube Mill Team during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime.
· Follow verbal and/or written instructions and comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements.
· Take direction from Production Manager and Mill Operator to perform other duties as assigned.

- Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to allow them to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints
- Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues
- Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to be a team player due to constant interactions with similar employees and stakeholders such as Engineers, Plant Managers, and Part Vendors, amongst others
V. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Associate’s Degree, trade or technical school diploma, and/or journeyman’s card in a related trade.
