Summary

Design mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems for truck mounted equipment that meet the applicable standards and to perform the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

• Design and analyze mechanical structures and components, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Design based on applicable regulations and industry standards.
• Document designs using 3D solid (SolidWorks) and 2D drafting software (AutoCAD).
• Evaluate weight and balance issues for road worthiness and crane stability.
• Develop sources for required hardware and systems.
• Create sales support drawings.
• Analyze product failures, develop repairs and redesign accordingly.
• Assist Manufacturing Engineering with development of work orders.
• Assist Production with floor-level decision making, development of work processes and tools.
• Maintain revision control on drawings and other controlled documents by utilizing PDM and ECO processes.
• Document and communicate modifications to purchased devices (e.g. cranes, aerial devices, etc.) with manufacturer.
• Conduct and/or source the supervision of testing of components and/or complete vehicles when required.
• Generate manuals for designed equipment as required.
• Utilize the Engineering Change process and Product Data Management system to control documents.
  
  

CERTIFICATES:

• Fluid Power Certification – Desired but not required.
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Agricultural or Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology
• Or 5 years of applicable experience in an engineering capacity.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
• Possess the ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.
  
  

DESIED:

• Design software – 3D and 2D (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred).
• Microsoft Office – Proficient in Excel and Word.
• Experience with hydraulically powered mobile equipment, on or off-road vehicles, assembly and manufacturing processes.
• Highly detail oriented and organized in work. Acceptable written and oral communication skills.
