Summary
The Equipment Assembler will be responsible for up-fitting and customizing vehicles to specifications. Position will be working with aerial, construction equipment, and heavy & light duty trucks. He/she must be willing to learn and have a strong attendance record.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performing necessary assembly and disassembly of body and equipment, such as removal of fasteners, welded components, tie downs, removing hydraulic hoses, and all other assembly/disassembly related activities within company guidelines.
- Building and customizing heavy & light duty vehicles with a variety of parts to specs
- Maintaining accurate records of work performed on each vehicle daily, as required, to establish labor hours for vehicle costs
- Moving parts into position, manually or with hoists, cranes, or forklifts.
- Understanding drawings/schematics and directions to determine material requirements and task sequences
- Maintaining tools, equipment and shop area for the purpose of ensuring the availability, and functioning of, required tools and equipment within a safe work area
- Wiring electrical components to an assortment of vehicles
- Plumbing Hydraulics on an assortment of vehicles
- Reading and understanding work orders
- Ensuring a timely turnaround of vehicles
- Performing other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have previous experience working with heavy equipment
- Must be able to furnish own tools for position
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Maintaining punctual attendance in accordance with schedule and company's attendance schedule.
- Keeping work area clean, safe and organized.
- Producing a product that is up to Custom Truck quality standards
- Providing a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Basic computer navigation and software skills needed for onboarding and daily timekeeping
- Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions
- Focusing in a fast-paced environment
- Two plus years of related automotive or vocational truck operation and maintenance experience
- Strong communication skills
- Proven commitment to Safety
- Majority of work is performed in a shop and outside
- Must be able to work while exposed to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or other fumes
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 42”, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout a 10-hour day, and up to 50 hours per week
- Must be able to safely operate carts, forklifts, hand trucks, and other equipment of such nature
- Ability to walk and stand on concrete and/or uneven surfaces for at least 10 hours per day
