Summary
This individual will prep heavy equipment and parts for paint.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces, per specifications, prior to painting
- Clean all surfaces to ensure proper adherence
- Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection
- Fill cracks, holes, and joints per specifications
- Erect scaffolding, movable, and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas
- Work on ladders to reach top of tall equipment
- Tape off areas when needed
- Clean up all equipment
- Must be able to troubleshoot problems
- Candidate must work well with others
- Requires strong attention to detail in department processes and procedures
- Requires the ability to comprehend and follow written work instructions
- Possess knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals
- Strong orientation towards quality, safety and continual improvement.
- Two plus years of related automotive or vocational truck operation and maintenance experience
- Strong communication skills
- Proven commitment to Safety
- Majority of work is performed in a shop and outside
- Must be able to work while exposed to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or other fumes
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 42”, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout a 10-hour day, and up to 50 hours per week
- Must be able to safely operate carts, forklifts, hand trucks, and other equipment of such nature
- Ability to walk and stand on concrete and/or uneven surfaces for at least 10 hours per day
