We are looking for a Wash Bay Prep Technician in our Bluffton, IN location!
SUMMARY
The Wash Bay Appearance Prep Tech role operates under the direction of others to perform basic duties related to the daily production and operations of the truck wash bay in manner that ensures schedules, quality and production while projecting a professional company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Tracks labor costs per unit to assist in the costing of remanufactured goods.
- Cleans vehicles for pictures, mechanical service, paint & body service and/or delivery to customer.
- Uses high pressure hoses to spray vehicles in order to remove dirt and grease to required standards based production stage vehicles are in.
- Scrub, scrape, or spray machine parts, equipment, or vehicles, using scrapers, brushes, clothes, cleaners, disinfectants, insecticides, acid, abrasives, vacuums, or hoses.
- Inspect parts, equipment, or vehicles for cleanliness, damage, and compliance with standards.
- Details vehicles as directed:
- Operates cleaning machines as necessary to perform duties.
- Mix cleaning solutions, abrasive compositions, or other compounds, according to formulas.
- Rinse objects and place them on drying racks or use cloth, squeegees, or air compressors to dry surfaces
- Maintain tools, equipment and shop area for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required tools and equipment within a safe work area.
- Maintains a safe/organized work area to limit risk of accidents or injuries.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-year experience in similar role or certification from recognized training program, accredited trade school or similar institution

Skills
• Mechanical — Knowledge of basic machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Use of Tools — Basic knowledge or ability to learn about the use of tools common to the trade:
- Power buffers ; Buffing machines; Machine polishers; Portable buffers.
- Power washers and scrubbers
Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Attitude: This job requires "people" skills and a genuine desire to service the client. A positive attitude and willingness to maintain a professional demeanor with clients and team members is essential to this position.
- Attendance – The ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance 6:00 am-2:30 pm, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary in order to meet business demands.
- Job may be performed under extreme temperature variations and some hazardous conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; must be able climb and balance on/off trucks, ladders and platforms of heights above 42”, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout an 8-12 hour day, and up to 60 hours per week.
- Must be able to safely operate equipment at heights up to and exceeding 100 feet.
