Custom Vinyls, a Patrick Industries company, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to join our team in Decatur, Alabama! The Maintenance Manager will need to be proficient in setting up and carrying out preventative maintenance programs as well as addressing immediate needs to keep production running. The maintenance manager will have one person reporting to them.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and optimization of hydraulic and electrical systems within a wood processing/lamination environment. This role ensures equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety standards while developing and implementing maintenance programs, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all facility equipment.
Other essential job functions will include:
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to enhance system performance and reduce downtime.
- Perform general maintenance work to prevent failures and malfunctions.
- Assist in developing and executing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Analyze repair requests, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution.
- Perform installations, assembly, fittings, repairs, and replacements as needed.
- Handle emergency maintenance and repair work as required.
- Maintain building maintenance and upkeep, including commercial electrical and plumbing systems.
- Ensure an adequate stock of maintenance materials and equipment to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Maintain accurate records of daily maintenance activities and completed work.
- Operate maintenance equipment safely to prevent accidents and maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Perform maintenance tasks based on pictures, blueprints, written descriptions, and oral instructions from supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Provide support to co-workers and assist with maintenance-related tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve equipment reliability and facility operations.
- Utilize working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic devices for troubleshooting and repair. Experience with wood processing/lamination equipment a plus
- Working knowledge of welding and CNC equipment for maintenance and repair.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in maintenance management with expertise in hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- General computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given parameters, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and provide exemplary customer service.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is preferred.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
- Adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements.
