CVP is seeking a skilled Medical Dosimetrist to join our team in providing essential radiation oncology services for the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center in Long Beach, CA. This role is crucial in developing optimal treatment plans for cancer patients, working closely with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists to ensure the best possible outcomes for our nation's veterans.
Location : Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center, 5901 E. 7th St. Long Beach, CA 90822
Clinic Hours : Monday to Friday, 7 : 30 - 4 : 00 pm
Period of Performance : 5 / 18 / 25- 5 / 17 / 30
Pay Rate : $64.04 / hr 1099
Responsibilities :
Design treatment plans using computer and / or manual computation to deliver prescribed radiation dosesCollaborate with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists in treatment planning for various modalities, including SRS / SRT, HDR brachytherapy, IMRT, IGRT, and LDR brachytherapyConsider dose-limiting structures in treatment plan designs and document doses in accordance with Radiation Oncologist prescriptionsAssist with treatment simulations and tumor localization on dedicated devices, including CT and MRIPlan and oversee fabrication of compensating filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam modifying devicesAssist in planning and supervise production of molds, casts, and other immobilization devicesSupport radiation therapy staff in implementing treatment plans, including the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangements, and other treatment variablesPerform calculations for prescribed dose delivery and document in patient filesVerify the mathematical accuracy of all calculations using established systemsProvide dosimetry and technical support to Medical Physicists in radiation protection, qualitative and quantitative machine calibration, and quality assurance of radiation therapy equipmentAssist in the application of specific dosimetry methods, including ion chamber, TLD, or film measurements as directed by Medical PhysicistsParticipate in quality assurance activities and peer review processesMaintain accurate and detailed documentation of all treatment planning activitiesStay current with evolving technologies and treatment techniques in radiation oncologyQualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Medical Dosimetry, Radiation Therapy, or related fieldCertification as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB)Minimum of 2 years of continuous work experience within the last 3 years as a Medical DosimetristProficiency in :o Varian Linear Accelerators (TrueBeam with Brain Lab and Rapid Arc or equivalent)
o Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) including Cone Beam CT
o Eclipse treatment planning system and ARIA record & verify system
o Treatment modalities including SRS, SRT, SBRT, and IMRT
o IMRT QA systems (e.g., MapCheck, ArcCheck)
o CT Simulators (e.g., GE Discovery)
Experience in a healthcare system with ACR or APEx certification preferredStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detail and accuracyGood communication and teamwork abilitiesAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to ongoing professional development and learningAbility to pass a government background check and complete required VA trainingCustomer Value Partners (CVP) Job ID #2024-2743.
