Position OverviewWe are seeking a Lead Operator to oversee and participate in our production process. This is a hands-on leadership role in which you will be responsible for managing production operators, ensuring workflow efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and assisting with process improvements. Initially, the Lead Operator will perform manual production tasks while overseeing small-scale operations, with opportunities for leadership expansion as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and lead a team of Operators in a respectful and productive work environment.
- Oversee 3D printer (FDM) production processes, ensuring on-time shipments and maintaining quality control.
- Supervise and participate in tasks including:
- Removing printed parts, cleaning, post-processing, and assembling components.
- Operating heat guns, Dremel tools, and sanding equipment for finishing.
- Casting and curing silicone parts, following strict procedural guidelines.
- Packaging, labeling, and preparing orders for shipment.
- Track production metrics, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Order necessary materials and supplies to maintain efficient workflow.
- Assemble and maintain 3D printers, including preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce defects.
- Escalate production challenges and strategic concerns to business leadership.
- Previous experience in a light manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage a small team.
- Comfortable working with hands-on production tasks, including detailed finishing work.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with 3D printers and other production equipment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
- Experience managing FDM 3D printers and performing basic maintenance.
- Prior experience in a leadership role within a production setting.
- Familiarity with silicone casting and post-processing techniques.
- Standing for extended periods, using step stools, and performing manual tasks.
- Use of hand tools, heat guns, and spray booths with PPE provided.
- Working in an air-conditioned commercial production space with access to a break area.
