What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pilot—CBP Air Interdiction Agent position at Customs and Border Patrol?
Air and Marine Operations (AMO) is a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). As an Air Interdiction Agent, you will perform aviation-based law enforcement operations to detect, prevent, interdict, and apprehend terrorists, terrorist weapons, and other contraband from illegally entering or attacking the United States. Your duties will include conducting air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to the interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the region you select, including Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR; Tucson and Yuma, AZ; San Diego, CA; El Paso, Laredo, and McAllen, TX; Sierra Vista, AZ; and San Angelo, TX. This career ladder position has a grade level progression of GS-11, GS-12, and GS-13, with opportunities for promotion based on performance and experience. You will be eligible for a range of federal benefits, including health insurance, dental insurance, paid time off, and retirement plans. To be eligible for this position, you must have a current FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with one of the following ratings: Dual Rated, Airplane Rated, or Helicopter Rated. You must also have at least 1500 flight hours, with 250 hours as Pilot-in-Command, 75 hours instrument, and 75 hours night. UAS flight hours may be credited towards satisfying the total flight time requirement. You must be a U.S. citizen and have had primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years. The maximum age for original appointment is 40 years old, although veterans' preference eligibility may exempt you from this requirement.
