Job Description – Service Consultant
Summary
The Service Consultant is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department and for selling additional needed service to customers.
Responsibilities
Work Performance
· Meet dealership standards for repairs orders and flat-rate hours sold per Service Consultant
· Maintain customer satisfaction scores at least comparable to that of the district average.
· Account for all service-related documentation.
· Ensure that customer service files are current and available.
· Abide by all dealership policies and procedures.
· Comply with all federal, state and local regulations that affect department operations.
Service Consulting
· Respond to telephone inquiries regarding appointments and work in progress.
· Offer a prompt and courteous greeting to all service customers.
· Schedule service appointments using dealership systems and procedures.
· Check vehicle repair and maintenance history before completing repair orders.
· Obtain and record current customer and vehicle information.
· Communicate with service customers to determine the nature of mechanical problems.
· Identify all customer requests, needs or concerns on each repair order.
· Test-drive vehicles or refer to them to a test Technician as needed.
· Provide accurate estimates of costs and time required for repair and maintenance services.
· Obtain a customer signature on each repair order and provide each customer with a copy.
· Notify a dispatcher of incoming work.
· Follow up the progress of each repair order during the day.
· If additional work is needed, provide updated estimates of costs and time to customers.
· Compare final invoices with original repair orders.
· Ensure that all repair and maintenance services on each repair order were completed.
· Deliver vehicles to customers, and address customer questions or concerns.
· Follow-up with customers on additional items found in need of repair or maintenance.
· Address all customer concerns and complaints.
Service Sales
· Advise customers on recommended care and maintenance of their vehicles.
· Inspect each incoming vehicle using a dealership checklist to identify sales opportunities.
· Makes service recommendations, and explain features and benefits of each recommendation.
· Address customer objections to recommended services.
· Secure customer commitment to recommend services.
· Follow up with customers whose choose to defer recommended services.
· Call customers who receive service reminders to schedule appointments.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
