Cutting Edge Machining and Automation in North Versailles, PA is seeking a Machine Shop Quality Inspector responsible for overseeing the quality control of parts and products produced in the machine shop. This role ensures that all products meet precise standards of accuracy, safety, and compliance with specifications. The inspector will collaborate closely with engineers, machine operators, operations lead, and other quality control personnel to ensure optimal performance and precision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect Parts and Components: Measure and verify the dimensions, geometry, and finish of parts and components using various tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines).
- Conduct Visual Inspections: Identify surface defects, such as cracks, dents, and scratches, ensuring that parts meet the required aesthetic and functional standards.
- Perform Testing: Conduct various tests, such as hardness testing, to ensure parts meet technical specifications.
- Review Blueprints and Specifications: Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to verify that production follows exact specifications.
- Ensure Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for products and materials.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions. Prepare inspection reports and communicate findings to management.
- Non-Conformance: Identify and document any non-conformances found in inspection.
- Support Continuous Improvement: Assist in identifying areas for improvement in the manufacturing process and participate in quality improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and process optimization.
- Coordinate with Other Departments: Collaborate with machine operators, engineers, and management to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training in machining or quality control is preferred).
- Proven experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of machine processes.
- Strong knowledge of quality control methods and tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM, gauge blocks).
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.) and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Ability to use Imperial and Metric systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency in using computer software for documentation and reporting (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Quality Management Systems).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Quality Control (e.g., CQI, Six Sigma) is a plus.
- Experience with CMM’s (Zeiss and/or Mitutoyo) Systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around a machine shop environment.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity for operating precision measuring instruments.
Work Environment:
- Machine shop environment with exposure to machinery, tools, and noise.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Work Hours and Benefits:
- 1st Shift – 7AM – 3:30PM
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
