Key Responsibilities
- Provide client-centered and evidence-based practice across all components of client care including the initial evaluation process, intervention, re-evaluation, and discharge.
- Supervise and coach clinical students and/or volunteers.
- Mentor Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants through supervision.
- Contribute to department growth through developing and conducting in-service training programs.
- Assist in developing strategic and long-range plans for the program. Participate in case reviews, medical consultation staffing, and school multidisciplinary team/staffing.
- Participate in public speaking or community education programs focusing on therapy in children/adolescents.
- Promote knowledge of innovation in pediatric Occupational Therapy by staying informed about new medical research and treatment modalities and inspiring others to do the same.
- Ensure the highest quality of Occupational Therapy services for CEPT clients.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualification and Skill Requirements
- Master’s degree in occupational therapy or equivalent.
- Currently registered and licensed by the State of Texas or eligible for licensure within the immediate future.
- Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 1-2 years of pediatric experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Extensive standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Lifting, positioning, and/or transferring clients, including participation in physical activities and play-based therapies.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
