Job Purpose -
- Project Engineers hold the responsibility for formulating comprehensive specifications for the deployment of telecommunications apparatus in central office locations or customer premises. Their tasks encompass: liaising with the technical representatives of customers, conducting site inspections, drafting meticulous installation guidelines, carrying out cost analysis for materials and labour, and offering support for technical and field engineering. Familiarity with telecommunications transport technologies, as well as central office environments and standards, is advantageous. They serve as the main liaison for the customer and for personnel in operations, installation, and project management on technical issues pertaining to designated projects.
- Conducting field travels for site surveys and project-related meetings.
- Developing proposals based on site surveys, customer requirements, and standards.
- Selecting appropriate materials to fulfill project installation needs.
- Crafting detailed engineering and installation specifications.
- Modifying customer's drawings and data for project purposes.
- Providing updates on the status of assigned projects.
- Ensuring compliance with company and customer standards and practices.
- Participating in quality control activities for project engineering tasks.
- Interfacing directly with customer's field, center, and central office engineers regarding the scope and content of assigned projects.
- Delivering detailed engineering information to customers for assigned projects.
- Assisting customers in resolving technical issues.
- Serving as the main point of contact for customers on projects executed by the team.
- Acting as a technical leader on assigned projects.
- Taking necessary actions to meet customer needs in a way that benefits the customer.
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor's degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Work Experience: Experience working in a Central Office.
- Industry Experience: 3 to 5 years of project engineering experience in the telecommunications industry or a similar role in a Central Office.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in engineering telecommunications infrastructure and equipment.
- Customer Standards: Ability to comprehend and adhere to strict customer standards.
- Project Management: Capability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Communication Skills: Excellent skills in organization, verbal and written communication, and telephone etiquette.
- Customer Service: High sensitivity to customer needs and a strong commitment to customer service.
- Software Proficiency: Functional knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, and basic computer-aided design (CAD) drawing and editing software.
