Job Description : SUMMARY

Provides academic support to Nursing program students. Works directly with students assisting in group settings. Supports the grant's objectives and initiatives as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Directly supervises Nursing program tutoring sessions while adhering to College policies and Departmental procedures
  • Engages with nursing program students to coach and support them, primarily in group tutoring sessions
  • Tracks and drafts tutor session notes for submission to grantor
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to the learning needs of a diverse student population
  • Respond to student request for overall nursing program learning assistance on an as needed basis
  • Assists in the development of educational action plans
  • Assists with individual and / or small group tutoring sessions
  • Works with and / or demonstrates various types of audio-visual materials, computer applications, and other materials or delivery systems used in an instructional program
  • Assists in the retention of program students
  • Consults with faculty as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / TRAINING

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Completion of a state board of nursing approved professional nursing education program
  • Current active unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse :
  • Specialty practice experience is required for some positions including but not limited to obstetrics, pediatrics, and psychiatric / behavioral health
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Possess working knowledge of Nursing concepts with the ability to apply in various situations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of exemplary instructional methods and practices
  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exemplary customer service
  • Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in curriculum instruction and evaluation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to accommodate students' needs
  • Ability to understand and embrace the mission of the community college
  • Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;

However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
