Job Description:
Provides management, direction, and serves as the subject matter expert for the utility system technology program. Directs and delivers various construction and utility technology courses; planning and delivering curriculum based on the established standards for the program. Provides direction and oversight of assigned staff and assists with program budget management. Tracks and reports student outcomes such as placement data, completion metrics; ensuring the program is achieving the desired outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides management and direction for the utility system technology program

Serves as the subject matter expert for the utility systems technology program

Provides direction and oversight of assigned staff and assists with program budget management

Assists in recruitment and marketing activities for the program, including attending job and career fairs
-
Directs and delivers formal instruction each semester, and covers instructor absences when necessary
-
Assists with student instruction in various labs as needed
-
Reinforces the instruction provided by faculty by utilizing a variety of learning modalities in the labs
- Maintains control and inventory of classroom equipment, instructional materials, and supplies
-
Instructs, advises, counsels, and provides feedback to students on clinical skills techniques
-
Administers competency testing to utility system technology students
-
Manages record-keeping system, to ensure program and students meet and maintain compliance standards

Provides well-defined goals for student achievements

Assists in updating, revising, and implementing curricular objectives and content

Ensures the utility system technology program’s compliance with the grantor
-
Collaborates with instructors and staff to provide appropriate learning opportunities for students

Assists in the development of policies related to the utility system technology program

Maintains up-to-date academic and attendance records in compliance with school and regulatory organization policies and guidelines

Develops and maintains departmental spreadsheets and databases to track and report student outcomes such as placement data and completion metrics; ensuring the program meets industry needs

Actively engages in promoting workplace health and safety

Cultivates relationships with local businesses and industry partners

Participates in program and division committees and maintains current and accurate records as needed

Provides a full range of program support

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
-
Master’s degree in related field
Demonstrated experience may substitute for education.

Minimum three years of experience building and maintaining the following utility systems:
Natural gas, water, wastewater, and communication.
- Civil Construction experience, including blueprint reading, job site management, and the use of leveling instruments.
- Experience with various excavating equipment in underground utility construction.

Expertise with locating underground utilities.
- Experience with heavy construction equipment and/or horizontal drilling

Target Starting Salary Range: $85,000 to $90,000 annual
The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within this range, but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).
