What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sawyer/CNC Tech position at CV Stoneworks?
Basic Responsibilities of the Sawyer in our granite company include:
- Cut required slab count for the day.
- Cut down backsplash or Rod pieces when necessary.
- Log/track/organize cut slabs and the work orders provided at end of the day.
- Keeping area clean.
- Keeping Carts organized.
Long term you will also be learning to operate the CNC to tag team machines with other machinists in shop.
We can teach any and all skills necessary to be successful at this position. What would really help set you apart, and things we will be looking for to help fill this position as soon as possible are:
- A Great Attitude
- - Every company says this one, so it is a bit cliche. Regardless, it is huge for us in our world. Being able to get along with our crew, and never make anyone feel like they are being expected to pull your weight is priceless.
- Reliable Transportation and a Valid Drivers License
- -If you have both of these, showing up to work on time shouldn't be a problem. There is nothing worse than being under a tight deadline and your only help can't make it in because their ride got sick.
- MUST know how to read a tape measure.
- - For this position, you will be reading a tape measure all day, every day. We can 100% teach you how to do this ( I didn't know how to read one when I started either), but a better chance at success for this position is to already know how and be proficient.
- MUST have basic knowledge of computers and how to work with them.
-We Use CNC Machines to cut and mill granite into countertops. All of which use software. If you have basic knowledge or how to open windows, type on a keyboard, and know what "File, Save" means. You'll be just fine.
- Forklift Driving Experience
- -We will still teach you how to drive while moving granite slabs around, but having experience driving where the back wheels turn instead of the front will help. This isn't HUGE or a must have, but will definitely help.
Basically, I am more concerned with attitude and willingness to learn than I am with hiring a super star. Navy seals recruit via trust, rather than look for the most elite. We follow the same Ideology. Every person who works here started with 0 experience and knowledge of the industry, and they are all rockstars now.
