We are currently hiring for a Medical Assistant, at our Arbor Office!
Job Overview: Perform administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a provider. Administrative duties may include maintain medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood and administering medications as directed by provider.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Must open the back office per the CVAM Opening Policy.
2. Must close the back office per the CVAM Closing Policy.
3. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

4. Welcomes patients by greeting them:
- In person
- Via telephone
5. Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes if necessary; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examination room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
6. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
7. Generates revenues by recording billing information of services rendered; completing insurance forms; responding to insurance and other third-party inquiries.
8. Always performs concise and thorough documentation in patient charts.
9. Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; facilitating refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; performing electrocardiograms.
10. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
11. Responsible for monitoring desktop of assigned provider and addressing desktop items within a 24-hour period.
12. Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions; answering questions.
13. Responsible for monitoring assigned desktop of buddy, per back office buddy assignment.
14. Responsible for completion of Triage, MA desktop
15. Responsible for completion of Portal messages.
16. Assist with Walk-in patients.
17. Update and maintain organization of the sample medication cupboards.
18. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance.
19. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
20. Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements.
21. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.
22. Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and difference requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
23. Participation in new hire and annual training is a condition of employment.
24. Other duties as assigned.

4. Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.

6. Exposure to Blood Bourne Pathogens (BBP) and Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIM) is rare but possible. Vaccinations and training are offered upon hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
1. Medical terminology.
2. Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details
3. Computer proficiency/ability to quickly learn new applications.
4. Legible handwriting and ability to accurately record information.
5. Organization skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
6. Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent, Medical Assistant certification or diploma from an accredited college or technical school. Current BLS certificate
Certification/Licensure: Must be a certified or registered medical assistant through a state recognized organization. Must complete required educational credits to maintain current certified or registered status. Experience: 6 months experience in the medical field preferred, or 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ALTERNATIVE TO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical Assistant, Front Office and/or other medical practice experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to fifteen (15) pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Assisting with patient mobility may be required. This may require you to on occasion wear gloves and/or other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
