Hospital Managers play an integral role in ensuring optimum patient care and support of cardiology via the organization of daily operations, problem-solving, and leading their team at the assigned location. They organize and implement practices in the assigned location, to achieve the goals and desires of the owners and CEO, and manage business activities of the company by promoting and instilling CVCA values, leading, and maintaining a “Will Do” attitude.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Perform general Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant duties
- Instill CVCA values
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all CVCA offices to achieve company goals
- Keep lines of communication open
- Manage/oversee day to day operations at assigned office (inventory, IT issues, etc.)
- Inventory
- IT issues and troubleshooting
- Client management
- Team supervision
- Assure office is running efficiently
- Strong understanding and oversight of surgical responsibilities in assigned locations
- Understanding and following OSHA safety protocols, and staff training
- Oversight Technician/Assistant work schedule
- Assist with schedule when short staffed or someone is sick
- Delegate and help maximize employee potential
- Show flexibility in scheduling
- Assist in assessing the need for coverage when someone is out and make operational adjustments as necessary (asking staff in another location to help with phones or messages, etc.)
- Be part of the interviewing process
- Evaluate, discuss and document performance reviews with direct reports on an annual basis.
- Provide support with quarterly meetings, documenting individual development toward goals and improved performance
- Assist with development of performance improvement plans, implementation and follow through
- Serve as Location Trainer or oversee assigned location trainer
- Provide a welcoming environment for new employees
- Assist in identifying possible avenues for advertising/promoting CVCA
- Assist with marketing events and recruit staff to help with events
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Some tasks may be added or removed from this list as deemed necessary for the safety and well-being of our patients
Responsibilities / Qualifications
Education/Experience/Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Veterinary Technician Certification (LVT/RVT/CVT), desirable but not required
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a veterinary technician/ assistant, desirable but not required
- 1 year employment with CVCA or 1-year previous supervisory experience.
- Computer knowledge required. Comfortable with MS Word, MS Excel, Paint, photos, Google drive/sheets/docs, PDF/CutePDF, keyboarding, instant messaging, and email

- Experience with basic office functions in a busy practice environment
- Accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and compute rate, ratio, and percent.

- Organized, with an ability to appropriately prioritize tasks
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Have excellent communication skills
- Ability to negotiate and problem solve through challenging conversations

- Genuinely enjoys working with people and animals and is able to deal with animals even when they are stressed, ill or in pain
- Be flexible in attitude and work habits.
- Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members
- Ability to self-direct and work independently
- Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
- Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying animals up to 40 pounds (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs). Bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, walking/standing for extended periods of time; frequently works in a bent position.
- Working conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases
