JOB SUMMARY:
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential while the typically classroom teacher is not available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Education or relevant field
- Certification with Iowa Board of Educational Examiners in teaching and in appropriate subject area
- Enthusiastic supporter of Catholic faith and schools
- In-depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in the use of educational technology
- Self-motivated
- Well-organized with leadership abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
- Professional oral and written communication skills
- Flexible, adaptive, and cooperative
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Foster the Christian uniqueness of the learning community
- Maintain required trainings as required by the State of Iowa, Archdiocese, and local site
- Adhere to the teaching standards
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
- Provide appropriate feedback on work
- Participate in problem solving process to ensure needs of students are being met
- Differentiate instruction to address the needs of individual students
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws and school policies and regulations
- Participate in department, school, and parent meetings
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Prepare classroom for class activities
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
- Maintain confidentiality with work-related matters
- Promote positive public relations through interactions with the community
- Work towards continuous quality improvement including the use of new technologies and equipment
- Uphold, support, and promote all school policies and procedures
- Accept and provide effective supervision, assignments, change and correction

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Lifts and moves items up to 20 pounds.
