CVP subsidiary Titan-Auxo, LLC is seeking Cardiothoracic Physician Assistants to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with high-quality cardiothoracic surgical care at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (CTPA) will provide on-site services to support the cardiothoracic surgery program at the Milwaukee VAMC. Services include assisting in the Operating Room (OR) as the first or second surgical assistant to the resident or staff physician, helping to open and close all incisions pertinent to CT surgery, harvesting veins, and other duties as directed within defined scope of practice. Schedule
- Regular Hours Tuesdays from 730 a.m. to 430 p.m., Wednesdays from 830 a.m. to 530 p.m., and Thursdays from 730 a.m. to 100 p.m.
- On-Call Coverage Tuesday 430 p.m. to Wednesday 830 a.m., Wednesday 530 p.m. to Thursday 730 a.m., and Thursday 100 p.m. to Friday 1200 a.m.
- On-call means carrying a cellular phone/pager and being able to report to the Milwaukee VAMC within 30 minutes
- Assist in the operating room as the first or second surgical assistant to the resident or staff physician
- Help open and close all incisions pertinent to cardiothoracic surgery
- Harvest veins for cardiac procedures
- In emergency situations, perform emergency care within Scope of Practice pending arrival of a physician
- Document patient treatment in electronic medical records within 4 hours of the encounter
- Comply with all appropriate and applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the Milwaukee VAMC
- Maintain physical presence in the facility to perform required services
- Follow established patient safety and infection control standards of care
- Participate in Quality Management/Quality Assurance activities as required
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia
- Board Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Minimum of 1 year experience performing as the first or second surgical assistant to the resident or staff physician in cardiothoracic surgery
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification preferred)
- Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently
- Ability to successfully undergo a government-sponsored background investigation (US Citizenship Required)
- Ability to maintain all continuing education requirements for maintaining certification
