Job Title: Clinical Supervisor

Reports To: Practice Administrator

Location: 77 E. Woodbury Dr., #100 Dayton, OH 45415

SUMMARY

Oversees day-to day operational functions and activities for an assigned location, department or area. Ensure adequate and efficient staff are available to facilitate smooth patient flow. Maintains equipment and supplies. Works closely with Clinical Manager/Operations Director to coordinate employee/physician schedules including oversight of staff allocation and duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees daily operations for assigned location, area or department.
  • Functions as a technician or in other clinical position regularly.
  • Optimizes office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications and systems, effective utilization of resources and delegation of duties.
  • Maintains appropriate technical staffing and/or functioning equipment at assigned clinic site(s).
  • Supervises the assigned technical or department staff which may including hiring, scheduling/leave approval and performance evaluation.
  • May coordinate weekly schedules in conjunction with others.
  • Provide input to Clinical Manager/Operations Director for performance reviews.
  • Coaches, manages and develops technical staff to improve skills and knowledge. Encourages professionalism and continued education leading to higher levels of certification.
  • Monitors hours worked and staff utilization at assigned sites and offer ideas to utilize or allocate resources more cost effectively.
  • May conduct regular team meetings to ensure good communication.
  • Participates in training activities and developing appropriate competencies for assigned staff.
  • Facilitates communication and maintains relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Identifies problem areas or operational bottlenecks to be addressed.
  • Considered to be the initial go-to person in the event of a patient, staff or physician complaint. Handles the situation or requests assistance from the Clinical Manager.
  • Works in concert with other management personnel to ensure consistency in procedures and practices, as well as gain/offer input for problem solving.
  • Acts as a liaison between Clinical Manager and clinic staff.
  • Provide updates and communication of policies and procedures. Monitor staff for compliance with office policy.
  • Supports process improvement and enhancements in efficiency or productivity.
  • Knowledge of all equipment, office and surgical supplies utilized within assigned function.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Direct or indirect responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training team members, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members. Addresses team member issues and concerns, facilitates conflict resolution.

Incumbent is responsible for providing supervision and leadership to staff in the following job titles:

  • Ophthalmic Assistants, Technicians, Ophthalmic Photographers

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree preferred or must have equivalent experience.
  • COA, COT or COMT certification required within 2 years of service.
  • At least three years or more of previous management/lead experience strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • IJCAHPO Core certification
