Senior Inspector

Position Summary

Provides technical support to the quality engineering functions. Set up records, establish and predict replacement requirements and modifications for compliance with governmental regulations and industrial codes. Conducts nondestructive examination and quality control inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc., at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards. Captures and analyzes statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards. Recommends new or enhanced methods, procedures and standards. Direct contract inspection resources as required. Utilize Risk Management principles to drive sound recommendations and solutions.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• API 510 and API 570 required
• API 653 certification preferred
• BS Mechanical Engineering preferred
  
  

Experience Requirements

• 8 years’ experience as an API fixed equipment inspector in a heavy industrial environment (refining, petrochemicals) and have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of refinery maintenance procedures including safety procedures involving repair and maintenance of fixed equipment
• Working knowledge of RBI, API Standards, ASME Codes, NBIC, and PCMS Data Management Programs
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required
• Must be able to understand and operate NDT equipment, UT, PT, MT and VT and interpret Radiographic Film
• Must be able to read and draw isometric drawings
• Must be able to work in a plant environment involving climbing, confined spaces, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
• Fluent in English, oral and written required.
• Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.
  
  

Major Accountabilities

• Determine serviceability of piping, vessels, towers, heaters, exchangers, boilers, and any other critical process equipment.
• Develop and execute inspection plans for fixed equipment based on service, design, condition, jurisdictional requirements, and inspection history.
• Maintain and update mechanical integrity documents and files in a well-organized manner
• Oversee and manage contract inspection resources for the area of ownership.
• Review recommendations based on findings, options, and risk assessments with management, Operations, and Maintenance.
• Perform vendor shop inspections and provide onsite project inspections daily
• Maintain communication with Contractors, maintenance, Construction, Operations and Engineering on various matters including inspection/code requirements, condition of equipment, workmanship that does not meet requirements, and recommendations regarding repair of equipment or poor workmanship
• Must be able to make recommendations on shutdown of equipment and piping based on condition, governing codes, and serviceability
