Role and Responsibilities:
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Lead Stocker to join our team! In this role, you will lead and support the team to ensure the section is well-organized, products are stored properly, and safety standards are upheld, all while providing exceptional service to our customers.
- Lead and support a team to ensure that items are properly stocked, organized, and maintained.
- Oversee the accurate placement of products, ensuring they are stored according to safety standards and temperature requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels, perform stock rotation (FIFO), and report any discrepancies or shortages to management.
- Ensure the team adheres to food safety guidelines and sanitation procedures, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Train and mentor team members on stocking procedures, inventory management, and safety practices.
- Assist with unloading shipments, checking for product damage, and ensuring that deliveries are stored in the correct temperature zones.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and assist with stock replenishment to avoid out-of-stock situations.
- Communicate any issues or concerns related to inventory, equipment, or safety protocols to supervisors promptly.
- Ensure that safety equipment and personal protective gear (PPE) are used as required by safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a Stocker in a grocery store or similar setting.
- Familiarity with stock rotation practices (FIFO - First In, First Out).
- Knowledge of food safety standards, particularly for frozen and chilled items.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a commissary.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with the ability to mentor and guide a team.
- Strong attention to detail in product handling, storage, and stock rotation.
- Ability to use basic warehouse equipment like pallet jacks and forklifts (certification a plus).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting while stocking frozen and chilled products.
- Ability to work on your feet for long periods.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks in a cold environment (temperature-controlled areas).
- Reasonable accommodations can be provided.
Environmental Demands:
- Work in a cold environment, including freezers and refrigerators.
- Exposure to cold temperatures.
- Work in a fast-paced setting with frequent movement and time-sensitive tasks.
