Role and Responsibilities:
The Meat Room Custodian is responsible for keeping the meat room of the commissary/grocery store clean, safe, and sanitary.
- Wash and sanitize meat tools like slicers and grinders to keep everything safe.
- Make sure meat preparation and storage areas are tidy and follow health rules.
- Get rid of meat scraps properly, following safety rules.
- Monitor fridges to keep meat at safe temperatures.
- Refill cleaning products and safety gear for the team.
- Wash the tools and surfaces used by butchers.
- Practice good handwashing and sanitation.
- Talk with the team about cleaning schedules and what supplies are needed.
- Maintain records of cleaning and sanitation as required.
- Adhere to cleanliness, safety, and hygiene rules.
Qualifications:
- No experience, No Problem
Physical Demands:
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds
- Standing for long periods of time
- Repetitive bending, twisting, and reaching
- Pushing or pulling heavy carts and equipment
- Frequent cleaning and sanitizing tasks (floor, counters, equipment)
- Reasonable accommodations can be provided
Environmental Demands:
- Exposure to cold temperatures (meat storage areas may be below freezing)
- Exposure to strong odors (meat, cleaning chemicals)
- Wet and slippery floors
- Noisy environment (due to machinery)
- Potential exposure to sharp objects (knives, slicers)
