What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction and Finance Accountant position at CWallA?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction & Finance Accountant to manage financial transactions for our construction projects. This role will work closely with project managers, contractors, and internal departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies. Responsibilities:
- Oversee the month-end close process for construction projects
- Maintain and reconcile project-related balance sheet accounts in accordance with GAAP
- Perform job cost tracking, budget variance analysis, and financial reporting across multiple projects
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost allocation and contract compliance
- Process contractor invoices, ensuring adherence to contract terms, lien waivers, and payment schedules
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable related to construction projects
- Assist in the development of financial reports, including work-in-progress (WIP) and cash flow analysis
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
- Support external audits by providing project-specific financial data and documentation
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost control in project accounting
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 3-5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry preferred
- Experience with job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting is a plus
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting best practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience with construction and property management accounting software (Yardi) is preferred
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments
