Assistant Preschool / Pre-Kindergarten Teacher
Under the direction of center administration and the lead teacher, the assistant teacher is responsible for coordinating and implementing individual education plans for children ages 3 – 5 years. The assistant teacher supports the lead teacher in providing a safe and educational learning environment for the children.
Major Responsibilities and Tasks
- Program Core FeaturesProvide high quality learning environment that incorporates evidence based curriculum and instructional activitiesSupport the lead teacher in order to provide the highest quality of care to the classroom Attend and participate in all scheduled trainings in support of ongoing professional developmentProvide an enhanced curriculum focused on social-emotional development, early language and literacy, and physical development
- CurriculumPositively engage with children and use appropriate Conscious Discipline methods, as outlined in CWCC’s policy Perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practicesMeet with lead teacher and aide to review lesson plans and individual child goals and assign best teaching practicesAssist in the planning and implementation of learning experiences that promote all developmental domains
- AssessmentIdentify concerns or developmental milestones of primary care children to the lead teacherCoordinate with the lead teacher and aide to develop activities and use instructional materials appropriate for preschoolersAssist in the completion of informal and formal assessments at the discretion of the lead teacher
- Home-School Connections Develop relationships with families by providing open communication and encouraging parent input Interpret school program to parents to strengthen the understanding of the child’s needs and the importance of an early learning environment for the continued development of the child
