OVERVIEW

 

The Welder/Fabricator ll is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced welding tasks, including fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal parts and structures. This role requires a solid understanding of welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, and quality standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Perform intermediate to advanced welding operations using MIG, TIG, stick, or other welding techniques.

·         Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding procedures to determine the appropriate welding process and materials.

·         Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and fitting.

·         Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

·         Troubleshoot and correct welding defects such as porosity, cracks, or warping.

·         Operate and maintain welding tools, equipment, and machinery.

·         Adhere to workplace safety regulations and use appropriate PPE.

·         Train or mentor less experienced welders as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed welding degree from a vocational or technical school.
  • Typically, more than 1 year of welding experience and needs little oversight or training.
  • Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a welding degree.

JOB SKILLS

  • Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick welding).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of welding safety practices.
  • Experience with welding inspections and quality assurance.
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, or bend for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in hot, noisy, or physically demanding environments.
  • Good visual acuity to distinguish details in the materials and welds.
  • Ability to perform tasks in uncomfortable positions, including lying, crouching, or in awkward spaces.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

·         Manufacturing, construction, or repair facility.

·         Exposure to welding fumes, heat, and noise, with proper PPE provided.
