General Description : The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) will provide high-level nursing care for critically ill patients. Working under general supervision, the RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while maintaining a strong focus on critical care nursing. This role demands expertise in managing complex cases, advanced critical care skills, and strong collaboration with the healthcare team.
Essential Responsibilities :
Assume responsibility for a group of critically ill patients, managing complex care needs.
Monitor and document patient responses to medical interventions, including prescribed medications and treatments.
Assist physicians in the assessment and examination of critically ill patients, supporting diagnostic procedures and treatments.
Provide intensive care, including administering medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products as prescribed.
Perform continuous monitoring of physiological data, including vital signs and lab results, and intervene appropriately when necessary.
Provide life-saving interventions and assist with critical care procedures under physician supervision.
Educate patients and their families on the care plan, treatment options, and discharge procedures.
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for critically ill patients.
Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff, ensuring efficient and effective patient care delivery in the ICU.
General Responsibilities :
Perform other duties as assigned by nurse leadership or ICU management.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience :
Minimum of 1 year of ICU nursing experience.
In-depth knowledge of critical care nursing practices, including managing complex, high-acuity patients.
Strong ability to assess, plan, and evaluate care for critically ill patients.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Ability to respond effectively to diverse patient needs, including cultural and language needs.
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
Preferred Skills & Experience :
Experience working in an ICU setting preferred.
Knowledge of advanced life support and invasive monitoring techniques.
Required Certifications & Licensure :
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Additional certifications or training in critical care nursing may be preferred.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure :
Certification in critical care nursing (e.g., CCRN) preferred but not required.
Education :
Required Education : Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Preferred Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited, Board-approved program.
