General Description : Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse (RN) will provide nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex, with a focus on oncology care. The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, while collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes for oncology patients.
Essential Responsibilities :
Assume responsibility for an assigned group of oncology patients, managing complex care needs.
Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; record all changes in physician orders.
Assist physicians in the examination of oncology patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervene when necessary.
Administer medication as prescribed and monitor for any adverse effects.
Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products as required.
Deliver competent patient care in accordance with established protocols and standards.
Interact with family and patients, sharing the care plan during their hospital stay and at the time of discharge.
Educate patients and families on hospital procedures, treatment options, and self-care after discharge.
Make appropriate referrals regarding patient care needs to other healthcare professionals.
Delegate tasks to support staff as needed to ensure effective patient care delivery.
General Responsibilities :
Perform other duties as assigned by nurse leadership or unit management.
Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies.
Required Skills & Experience :
At least 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in an oncology or similar healthcare setting.
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services, applying clinical nursing techniques.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
Preferred Skills & Experience :
Experience in oncology nursing preferred but not required.
Required Certifications & Licensure :
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure :
N / A
Education :
Required Education : Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Preferred Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited, Board-approved program.
Languages :
Must be proficient in English (Speak, Read, Write).
Minimum Degree Required :
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Community College, MBO).
