General Description :
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to a variety of pediatric patients in a hospital setting, ranging from simple to complex health problems, particularly within the Pediatric Unit.
Essential Responsibilities :
Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of pediatric patients.
Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders for assigned pediatric patients.
Assists physicians in pediatric patient examinations and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
Monitors and obtains physiological data of pediatric patients, observes manifestations, and intervenes when necessary.
Administers medications as prescribed for pediatric patients, initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
Provides competent patient care in alignment with established pediatric nursing standards.
Interacts with pediatric patients and their families to share care plans, both during hospital stay and at discharge.
Informs pediatric patients and their families about hospital procedures and care plans.
Makes referrals regarding pediatric patient care needs to the appropriate personnel.
Delegates tasks to support staff as needed.
General Responsibilities :
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience :
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Pediatric Unit.
Strong knowledge of professional pediatric nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate pediatric nursing services and apply pediatric nursing techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good working relationships with other staff members.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of pediatric patients and visitors.
Some computer skills.
Required Education :
Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Preferred Education :
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a Board-approved program.
Required Certifications & Licensure :
Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
CWS Health Job ID #17. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
