We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will have strong orthopedic skills and experience in performing total joint replacement surgeries independently, as well as a solid background in vascular surgeries (both hybrid and open cases). This is a 12-hour day shift role with rotating weekend and holiday shifts. The CST will assist in preparing and maintaining the operating room for surgeries, ensuring sterile procedures are followed, and providing support to the surgical team.
Responsibilities :
Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile fields, arranging instruments, and ensuring all necessary surgical supplies and equipment are available.
Assist the surgical team during procedures, including passing instruments, sutures, and other necessary materials.
Work independently in total joint replacement cases and assist with vascular surgeries (hybrid and open cases).
Operate and manage specialized equipment in the operating room, including infusion pumps, ultrasound machines, laparoscopic Olympus equipment, da Vinci Robot, Rosa Robot, and Monarch Robot (Monarch specialized, but not required).
Maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure, ensuring that all instruments are properly handled and placed.
Assist the RN in overturning the OR room when needed, including cleaning, prepping, and mopping the operating room.
Ensure the patient’s safety and comfort during surgical procedures.
Expected to work one weekend shift per month and every other holiday as part of the rotating schedule.
Qualifications :
NBSTSA Certification (Certified Surgical Technologist) required at the time of submission.
AHA BLS Certification required.
Minimum of 2 years of OR experience in an acute care facility.
Strong experience with orthopedic procedures, particularly in total joint replacements (must be able to perform independently).
Experience in vascular surgeries, including hybrid and open cases.
Proficiency in using specialized equipment such as infusion pumps, ultrasound machines, laparoscopic Olympus equipment, da Vinci Robot, Rosa Robot, and smoke evacuators.
Ability to assist in room turnover, including cleaning and prepping the OR.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, including one weekend shift per month and every other holiday.
Additional Information :
The facility will accept local candidates for this position.
The facility may call off up to 3 shifts for 13-week contracts and 2 shifts for contracts shorter than 13 weeks.
Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
No on-call requirements, but weekend and holiday shifts are part of the standard schedule.
