What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemistry Lecturer position at CWU?
The Department of Chemistry at Central Washington University anticipates a full-time temporary lecturer position for the 2025-2026 academic year. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper division chemistry lecture and laboratory courses for science majors as well as non-science majors.
Teaching Responsibilities
The incumbent will possess superior teaching abilities and a willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities. This person will be invited to participate as a full member of the department, integrating CWU's commitment to diversity and creating a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all students.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in biochemistry or a related discipline of chemistry
- Superior teaching abilities
- Willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities
- Teaching, research, service, or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWU's commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students and campus communities
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline of chemistry
- University-level teaching experience
- Teaching or research experience in organic chemistry or inorganic chemistry
- Experience or interest in developing and teaching online courses
- Experience in curriculum development and improvement
- Experience working in a diverse environment and/or utilizing a variety of teaching methods designed for broad student success
- Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds
Appointment Information
This is a non-tenure track, 9-month appointment. Additional summer teaching may be available.
