Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Server to join our high-end, seasonal restaurant in Shelter Island Heights, NY. As a Server, you will provide impeccable service in a fast-paced, upscale dining environment. Our menu features a refined selection of New American, coastal inspired cuisine. You’ll be responsible for ensuring a seamless dining experience by providing exceptional service, building rapport with guests, and maintaining a high level of professionalism throughout the dining process. Previous serving experience is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival, providing menus and offering detailed descriptions of dishes, daily specials, and beverages.
- Take accurate orders, ensuring attention to detail when entering into the POS system, and accommodate special requests or dietary restrictions.
- Deliver food and drinks promptly and to the highest quality standards, working closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely service.
- Offer knowledgeable suggestions for wine pairings, cocktails, and beverages to complement the meal, with a focus on New American cuisine.
- Upsell menu items and encourage guests to try additional courses or specialty items.
- Provide exceptional service throughout the meal, checking in with guests to ensure satisfaction and offering further recommendations when appropriate.
- Anticipate guest needs.
- Maintain an organized and clean dining area, ensuring tables are set to standard and fully stocked with necessary items.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, or special requests with professionalism, ensuring resolution and guest satisfaction.
- Process guest checks accurately and efficiently, handle payments, and ensure the proper handling of cash and credit transactions.
- Assist in setting and resetting tables, keeping the dining area inviting, clean, and organized at all times.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Work closely with team members to maintain a cooperative and harmonious work environment.
Qualifications:
- Serving experience required in a high-end or fine dining restaurant, with a strong understanding of upscale customer service.
- Knowledge of New American cuisine and the ability to describe dishes and ingredients to guests with confidence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on customer service and creating memorable dining experiences.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Knowledge of wine, spirits, and cocktail service is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of service.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift trays or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Must be flexible and available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude with a desire to contribute to the success of the restaurant.
- Must be 18 years or older.
