The Architectural Estimator is responsible for evaluating architectural drawings and specifications to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for construction projects. This role involves collaborating with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure that all aspects of the project are accounted for in the estimate and to support the bidding process effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural drawings and specifications to understand project requirements and scope.
- Prepare detailed estimates for materials, labor, and other project costs using relevant estimating software.
- Collaborate with project managers and architects to clarify project details and requirements.
- Analyze bid documents, conduct take-offs, and prepare proposals for submission to clients.
- Maintain records of estimates, proposals, and contracts for future reference and audits.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and pricing to ensure accurate estimates.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather additional information for estimates.
- Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry, preferably in architectural projects.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as PlanSwift, HCSS, and ISQFT.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD for reading and interpreting architectural drawings.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for client interactions.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
