Position Overview
The Asphalt Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating costs and preparing bids for asphalt paving projects. This role requires a strong understanding of grading, paving, and underground utilities, as well as the ability to analyze project specifications and develop cost estimates for small commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans and specifications to understand the scope of work.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for asphalt paving projects including grading and underground utilities.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to gather necessary information for accurate bidding.
- Conduct market research to stay informed on material and labor costs.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and presentations for clients.
- Monitor and track project costs to ensure estimates align with actual expenses.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in asphalt estimating or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of grading, paving, and underground utilities.
- Proficiency in cost estimating software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
