Position Overview
The Director of Development is responsible for leading the fundraising strategy and initiatives to support the organization's mission. This role involves overseeing campaign management, donor relationships, and strategic planning to enhance philanthropy and ensure sustainable funding for programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet organizational goals.
- Manage capital campaigns and oversee fundraising events to maximize donor engagement.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
- Lead grant proposal writing and research to secure funding from various sources.
- Utilize fundraising software and donor databases to track contributions and manage donor relationships effectively.
- Collaborate with program staff to align fundraising efforts with organizational needs and priorities.
- Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities, providing reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in development or fundraising, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Proven track record of successfully managing fundraising campaigns and securing major gifts.
- Strong knowledge of philanthropy, donor cultivation, and stewardship best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient in using fundraising software and donor databases for management and reporting.
- Strong strategic planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
