Position Overview
The Fiber Designer is responsible for creating and implementing efficient fiber optic designs to support telecommunications projects. This role focuses on ensuring that network designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements while optimizing for performance and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive fiber optic designs that meet project specifications and client requirements.
- Utilize design software such as Visio, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS to create detailed schematics and blueprints.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and installation teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to inform design decisions and troubleshoot potential issues.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, including BICSI guidelines.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic components and networks to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of designs and technical specifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
- Proven experience in fiber optic design and installation practices.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Visio, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic components and network testing methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Project management experience is a plus, particularly in telecommunications projects.
