Position Overview

This role involves conducting on-site scanning operations using Trimble X7 LIDAR scanners across various industries, performing 3D laser scanning, and precision point data collection for geo-referencing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in LIDAR field data collection methodologies, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate scan data with GPS data effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site 3D laser scanning operations with Trimble scanners (30% travel required).
- Perform post-processing of scan data to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Integrate scan data into design models using industry-standard software.
- Coordinate scan data with survey data to ensure alignment and accuracy.
- Maintain and update scanning equipment as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices during scanning activities.
- Demonstrated experience with ESRI software suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcCatalog, Spatial Analyst, Data Interoperability, Network Analyst, Image Analyst, Location Referencing System (LRS), and ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing (APR).
- Strong data management skills, including creating, editing, and converting GIS data.
- Effective communication, time management, and attention to detail to support project teams and clients.
- Experience setting up field teams for mobile data collection using Field Maps and GPS equipment.
- Experience creating, publishing, and managing map services.
- Experience with pipeline data management and reconciliation.
- Experience with reading, reviewing, and implementing Pipeline Survey data.
- Experience with Python and ModelBuilder is a plus.
- B.S or M.S./M.A. in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or a related discipline with 3-5 years of professional experience, including 2 years of pipeline experience.
- Minimum of three years of relevant LIDAR experience with a bachelor's degree, or five years of relevant experience with LIDAR field data collection.
- Proficiency in operating Trimble X7 scanner, with a strong understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software for post-processing and integrating scan data (e.g., Trimble Business Center (TBC), AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Revit).
- Solid understanding of LIDAR data collection methodologies and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in scanning and data processing.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technologies and methodologies.
- Ability to travel throughout the U.S.A. (Anticipated travel not to exceed 35%).
