Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator to manage and maintain our Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate will ensure system uptime, optimize performance, and implement security measures while providing support for network services and applications.
You will join our lean team of two (and growing) and will be onsite in Irvine (potential for hybrid).
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations.
- Manage user accounts and permissions, ensuring security policies are followed.
- Implement and maintain anti-spam measures and email services using Sendmail.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users and other IT staff.
- Automate routine tasks using shell scripting and configuration management tools.
- Collaborate with the networking team to ensure seamless integration of services.
- 5 yrs experience in Linux system administration and support
- Strong LAMP stack administration skills (Apache/Nginx, MySQL, PHP)
- Experience with networking and anti-spam solutions techniques
- Experience with Sendmail
- Deep expertise in CentOS 8 & 7 (installation, package management, tuning)
- Security best practices (firewalls, SSL, fail2ban, SSH hardening)
- Automation experience (Ansible, Bash, Python)
- Experience optimizing MySQL databases (indexing, query optimization, caching)
- Troubleshooting and log analysis skills (journalctl, dmesg, system logs)
- Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, load balancing)
- Experience in high-availability and scalability setups
