The Produce Category Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the fresh produce category to ensure high-quality products are available for our customers.
This role requires strategic vendor negotiation and effective category management to optimize product selection and pricing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for fresh produce that align with company goals.
- Negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing and terms for produce purchases.
- Manage relationships with produce suppliers to ensure consistent quality and availability.
- Analyze market trends and consumer preferences to inform product selection and category strategy.
- Collaborate with merchandising and marketing teams to promote fresh produce offerings effectively.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage stock to reduce waste and improve turnover rates.
- Conduct regular reviews of vendor performance and adjust sourcing strategies as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in procurement or buying, with a focus on fresh produce or grocery categories.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in vendor management.
- Knowledge of category management principles and practices.
- Ability to analyze sales data and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management and procurement software.
- ERP/MRP system usage and comfort using is ideal.

Salary : $65,000 - $95,000
