Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company goals and project requirements.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Evaluate vendor performance and financial ratings to ensure reliability and risk management.
- Manage procurement procedures and policies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with project managers and sales representatives to streamline purchasing processes and support project needs.
- Oversee the preparation and issuance of purchase orders, ensuring contractual accuracy and compliance with specifications.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage stock to meet project demands while minimizing costs.
- Lead a team of procurement staff, providing direction and support for professional development.
- Facilitate communication between accounts payable and suppliers to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payments.
- Engage in corporate social responsibility initiatives by considering ethical sourcing practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing management, preferably in heavy civil construction.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.
- Proficient in procurement software and tools, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to manage a team effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to analyze financial ratings and assess risk factors associated with vendors and subcontractors.
- Understanding of construction management processes and supply chain dynamics.
- Proven decision-making and conflict resolution skills with a strategic mindset.
