Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate loan applications and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Assess the creditworthiness of applicants by analyzing credit reports, income statements, and other financial information.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies in the underwriting process.
- Communicate with loan officers and borrowers to clarify information and resolve any issues that arise during the underwriting process.
- Make informed decisions on loan approvals, denials, or conditions for approval based on established guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and rationale for future reference and audits.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in mortgage underwriting guidelines.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage underwriting.
- Proven expertise in SAR and DE certifications.
- Strong understanding of mortgage products, guidelines, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage time effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
