Position Overview
The Senior Estimator will play a critical role in our pre-construction team, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for municipal and commercial construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of construction processes, cost control, and the ability to analyze project specifications to provide reliable estimates that meet client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for municipal and commercial construction projects
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documents to assess project scope
- Develop and maintain a database of costs and resources for estimating purposes
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather relevant cost data
- Review and validate subcontractor quotes and proposals
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators in the department
- Participate in bid meetings and presentations to clients
- Monitor market trends and recommend strategies to improve estimating accuracy
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in municipal and commercial projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and applicable codes
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
